5/8/2018

and ST LEONARD'S UNITING CHURCH, BRIGHTON

MODERN MASTERPIECES OF EVOCATION, INVOCATION AND ILLUMINATION

“The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper”  – WB Yeats

The mesmerising music of Michael McGlynn and ANÚNA, Ireland’s National Choir, is well loved across Europe and the USA. The haunting melodies and texts of depth, along with Michael’s at once lush and ancient harmonic language, cast spells over audiences and singers alike. These amazing compositions weave connections between the ancient vocal traditions and literature of Ireland.

Michael’s compositions have been commissioned and performed by some of the world’s best known ensembles, including Chanticleer, Rajaton, Conspirare, New York Polyphony, Kansas City Chorale and the BBC Singers.

Our Director for this season, Christine M Storey, was fortunate to study with Michael and ANÚNA at the recent ANÚNA International Summer School, and so brings her fresh experience back to share with Australian audiences and Choristry.
