CHORISTRY IN CONCERT

Stories in Song: Folk music through space and time

3/3/2020

Performances: 3rd and 9th May 2020
Please note that this concert has been postponed until further notice due to the Corona virus emergency and will be rescheduled
This tuneful and attractive programme presents folk song arrangements from the UK, Ireland, America, Scandinavia, the Balkans and Australia. There will be old favourites (Loch Lomond, Blow the wind southerly, Shenandoah) as well as lesser known pieces (Niska Banja, Suo Gan) and many other interesting arrangements.

Folk music is a wonderful way for a choir to connect and communicate with an audience. Folk songs are timeless. They tell stories of the human condition that remain relevant through the ages. Folk melodies contain beautifully crafted, simple, singable and iconic vocal lines. A testament to the strength of the folk melody is its ability to stand alone as a single vocal line.

Two performances:
Sunday 3rd May at Holy Trinity Anglican Church Balaclava and Elwood, 175 – 177 Chapel Street, Balaclava
Saturday 9th May at the Church of all Nations, 180 Palmerston St, Carlton.

TICKETS: Online Presales $30/$20, Door $35/$25
